The team that keeps raising eye-brows.
After a stunning season start, where they won one monument (Milan San Remo), one classic ( La Fleche Wallonne) and podiumed The Giro, the went very quiet and to resurface at the Cro.Race.
Matej Mohorič (20):
The man, the legend who risked his life to win a monument!
Priced at 20 for the superclassico, he finished 9th in the overall superclassico (2226) infront of equally priced riders like Benoot and Cosnefroy.
He performed well regularly on the Cobbles.
While his ability to descent has no match, he he does not have the power to stay at the front on climbs.
He nevertheless seems to have worked on it after seeing his performances and sprint in the Cro.Race.
While another great baroudeur Tour de France performances was expected from him ( he won 2 stages and was in several break-aways in 2021), he was pretty much under the radar for the whole 3 weeks.
He later attributed this dip in performance due to an assymptomatic Covid infection and a possible Ebstein- Barr infection.
Verdict 2023: A firm favourite in the superclassico in races right until La fleche Wallonne. Depending on the grand tour he will feature in, a maximum pricing of 8 could be worth it depending on his form though.Dylan Teuns (16)
Except for the 210 points that his 4th place at the GP de Wallonie brought him, the Belgian earned the rest of his 1689 Superclassico points at Bahrain Victorious.
His form was so impressive in the Belgian classics and his win at La Fleche Wallone even more that he was considered the best puncheur in the world at that time.
He carried that title in the Tour de Romandie taking an equally impressive win on a wall finish.
His 6 coins pricing at the Tour de France was an actually good deal, considering that Fred Wright who really caught the eye also cost 6 points only brought 80 points more (575vs 495)
His season the gradually whined down after he unexplainedly switch to Israel Premier Tech because he had no race on the program.
Verdict 2023: He just need to discover his form, something that Israel riders never seem to be able to withstand.
Jan Tratnik (6):
The superclassico affair of the season. Stage placings, Break aways, Assists. He got them all covered.
Verdict 2023: There should be no second thoughts in the very unlikely event he is priced at anything less than 10 in the superclassico. His move to Jumbo Visma will give him even more points in term of assists and he will be of much aid in the Grand Tours.
Phil Bauhaus (12) :
He brought a decent 750 points in the super-classico where he seemed to have a predilections for races related to Germany.
But Bauhaus’ best use remains in stage races.
He did make it in Calum Lonie’s best possible Velogames team for Tirreno Adriatico and Jeremad’s best possible team for Tour de Pologne.
As rightly said :
Choosing strong support for 28 credit-costing Pogačar was never going to be easy, but Phil Bauhaus is a rider you can build your team around 😜— Calum Lonie 🇮🇪🇨🇵🇪🇺 (@CalumLonie) March 13, 2022Verdict 2023: One week stage races: get him.Jonathan Milan:
The other sprinter of the team who had an eye catching end of season.
While he is yet to compete against the absolute best, time is on his side.Verdict 2023: He is just 22, and his first races against the very best will be an indication of where we can expect him to be in 2023.Pello Bilbao (16):
While it remains an absolute outrage as to why he is constantly over-looked by his national team, the man keeps on giving.
Not really a great superclassico performer, his best return were not even in Itzulia and Poland where he finished 5th and 3rd respectively.
Priced at 12, he only brought 120 points less than 16points 3rd placed finisher Mikel Landa and of course he was in Jeremad’s velogames best possible team :

Verdict 2023: While we have not seen much of him in the later part of the season, his talent remains and he can always be a wise addition to your velogames in stage races, given the right price, the right parcours and of course his role in a team exploding with potential leaders.
Mikel Landa (16):
How do you finally make it to Grand Tour podium and still not make it into the best Velogames possible team.
You have to be as unlucky as Landa.
Yes, while those who thought they were finally being rewarded for trusting landismo, he was not the best choice for 16 point at the Giro.
As unpredictable as the man is, nowhere to be seen at the Vuelta he decided to pop it casually finish 3rd at Giro Lombardia.
Verdict 2023: nobody can predict the luck and the performance of this guy. can we? 3rd at Tirreno-Adriatico, 3rd at the Giro, 3rd in Lombardia. Italian charm….
While he is absolutely not to be considered in Superclassico, do not rule out the man even at his age.
After a stellar Giro 2021, much was expected of him in 2022. He might not have taken any big win , he did perform decently.
13th in Andalucia, 7th at Tirreno Adriatico , 6th in Romandie, 4th at the Dauphine.
The results speak for himself.
He did underperformed in the Tour but that was the case of the whole team. His DNS at the start of stage 18 suggest he might have been sick.
Verdict 2023: At 35, he is not done yet and he will be a must in one stage races that he will at least be sharing co-leadership as he is not expected to be very expensive.
Will he finally end his run of bad luck and crashes and finally prove to be the bargain he seems to be at the beginning of each grand Tour?
He is now a complete rider who has been accumulating good one week stages performances as well as classics.
While the nature of one day races does not favour his abilities, he has often proven to be a wise choice in the stage races except for grand tour where he has crashed.Verdict 2023: He will be priced at a maximum of 10 in whichever grand tour he starts.
A podium finish is well with in his capacity. But he has not been able not to crash out. An excellent choice for those aiming for the Bingo competition.
Wout Poel/ Gino Mader: Both are strong climbers who could pretend to one day races.
They both had decent one week stage performances. ( Poel: Andalucia: 1st/ Mader : 2nd Romandie)Verdict 2023: In a team stacked with leaders, they will be given to have a go at their own chances one or two times.Santiago Buitrago:
The new addition to the riders with general classification in the team.
Stage winner in the Giro, he brought in 1011 for 6 points worth.
While he did not follow through with the same performance in the Vuelta, the talent is here.
Verdict 2023: Not ready to go for GC himself, but he will always be looking for stage victories.
The new chouchou of the Peloton.
He kept on accumulating stage placings and breakaways this season.
While the victory is not far, he has been more than his worth in the Superclassico and Grand Tours.
As he chases his first victory in his own way, he has already proven that he should be in everyone team for grand tours as unclassed rider.
As for the super- classico there is still a step that he needs to climb which is featuring regularly in the top 10 finishes.
Expect a high price tag for him in the classics though.Eduardo Zambanini:
Only Cedric Beullens from Lotto- Soudal (345) and Jimmy Janssens from Alpecin (314) brought in more points than him as 4 pointer in the Vuelta (281).
His performances in the last superclassico races will make him a rider to watch.
Verdict 2023: His nature of racing will make him a regular choice in the super classico and a ready made choice in the spring classics limited transfers.
Without the shadow of a doubt, this has been and will probably be the longest team review I have written given the pool of Velogames performances.
While the team will be losing guys like Jan Tratnik, interesting addition Nikias Arndt and Andrea Pasqualon need to be followed.
