Velogames season 2022: A team by team review: FDJ-SUEZ-Futuroscope
FDJ-SUEZ-Futuroscope

This is a post that for all the right reasons in the world already puts a wide smile on our face.
This is a team that brings a joy to watch.
The youth, the solidarity, the eagerness to attack, the passion and the post- race interviews.
Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig
There is no other rider in the world that I would prefer start writing on than her. Watching all her interviews again and again, I don’t know here she gets that originality and passion from.
She might be a dead fish in the classics, 393 points and 50th best total for a rider that cost 24 points, but when it comes to stages races, Bang! She knows how to put the hammer down.
The high price that she usually comes with implies that she rarely makes it to the best Velogames possible team. Infact, despite finishing in the top 10 of the Giro Donne, Tour de France Femmes, Vuelta and Scandinavia Tour, she only made it to the best Velogames team of the latter.
10th best Velogames rider with 530 points at the Giro for 18 credits, 7th best with 576 points for 14 credits in the Tour, 7th again with 425 points for 18 credits in La Vuelta.
Her price tag of 20 credit was no obstacle for her making the best team in the Tour de Scandinavia. Interestingly, while she won the overall race, she only finished as 3rd best in Velogames behind Marriane Vos and Alexandra Manly.
Unfortunately her mere 191 points (16th) puts a small dark spot of her consistency.Verdict 2023: Her form and her performance will be here. The only question will be about her price and how she will fit in the best combination.

Marta Cavalli:
She had a classics season of dreams!
Only Demi Vollering and Annemiek Van Vleuten brought more points home than her and she cost 10 credits less(20).
While she started very shyly with a break away points in Gent and 27th place in Dwaars Van Vlanderen, she completed exploded onto the scene as from Amstel.
Her win in Amstel and La Fleche Wallonne combined with her 5th place in Paris-Roubaix and 6th in Liege-Bastogne-Liege brought her the bagatelle of a whooping 2273, just around 400 points less than the best rider, Annemiek Van Vleuten (2670) who interestingly started more classics races than her!
Her 2nd place in the overall in the Giro Donne assured her a place at the best Giro team at a cost of 18 credits for 1046 points (2nd best). Van Vleuten (1st/1356points/24credits).
While we expecting this to be the twilight of a great season, tragedy struck on the second stage of the Tour de France.
Verdict 2023: Her comeback in October in Romandie is great news as she will be building up to next season and her absence in the most important part of the season will probably grant her a lower price tag compared to the other big girls at the table.
Grace Brown:
The cheaper leader of the team integrated well for her first season and will definitely be undergoing a re-evalution.
A 18 points that brought in the 14th best total at 1068, courtesy of her 7th place in Flanders, 12th in Roubaix and 2nd in Liege Bastogne Liege.
More of a team player, she did however perform more than decently in the one stage race she was given the baton, namely the Women’s tour. 699 points and second place for a rider that cost 14 points.

Evita Muzic:
The 23 year old ex French champion characterizes everything about growth in performance in term of career and season.
Indeed after a very transparent season start, she started gaining momentum by taking the second place in the final standing of the Vuelta Burgos (not on Velogames calendar) as her performance improved in Itzulia, Switzerland and finally finishing 14th of the Giro. 3rd best rider for her team after Cavalli and Ludwig.
Her moment came in the Tour de France femmes by finishing an incredible 8th.
Yes, she did profit by being given more freedom, but this opened the door for her.
She finished the season with 6th final place in Romandie.
This bought her a place in the best possible team at the Tour de Romandie femmes. 294 points, 8th best rider which cost 10 credits.

Brodie Chapman:
An experienced rider who rose to the scene after some decent performance on the cobbles.
A big fan of late attacks and stretching the race, she usually fails short of a results.
She nevertheless managed to finish as 16th best rider with 204 points in Romandie.
Verdict 2023: she will be moving to a new team and her role is yet to be defined.
Marie Le Net / Eugenie Duval / Jade Wiel:
These are are among the girls who will most like be stepping in a role like Chapman.
They have already shown that they have the energy to power down attacks late in the race.
Clara Copponi:
A sprinter who went given the chance has a very capable team behind her.
She brought in 192 points for the classics solely on her 10th place in Gent.
2 top 10 sprint finishes and a lot of assists brought her 212 points, 27th best in the Giro Donne.
Vittoria Guazini:
The 21 year old attracted all attention when she finished fourth of the ITT at the World Championship.
She then continued her form at the Track Championship.
However, she had already caught the eye in Velogames when she managed to finished in the best possible velogames team for Ride London Classique, despite not starting the final stage.
